Congratulations on finishing! Very interesting to read of your discoveries: needing a concordance and a geography, for example.

The walks have stopped, although we are going out in half an hour to attempt to restart them. I won't be writing about them, though.

What stopped us:

(1) Dac couldn't walk far in the velcro sandals he's been obliged to wear for the past year, after being hospitalised with diabetic foot problems.
(2) I couldn't walk far because of (extensively researched but unexplained) breathlessness.

Today he'll have shoes but I'll still be breathless. We'll see how we go.

What I'm doing instead of writing: revising and attempting to complete a section of my website devoted to my university choir, which celebrates its jubilee next year. The university is going to archive the history pages next year, so I'm motivated to get it done.

I had a story last year, but no urge to finish. I failed at 18k. This year I have a story, one of the many fantasies that run riot through my head, and I have no problem putting fingers to keyboard every day and pushing my story along. I'm writing twice as much per day as I need for NaNoWriMo, but the story is easily going to be 100k or 120k to finish my plan.

Lessons I am learning this year - need a concordance to keep track of names and looks; need to describe land layout when it's so vital to the story; need to be able to tie up loose ends at the end. Every year, I learn something new. I think I need to write three or four more, chuck them all, and then I might be fluid enough to attempt one for public consumption. Also my typing accuracy needs to improve.

I think Drop The Dead Donkey aged very well. It's still exceptionally funny. Have you watched Coupling? It's a close second for favourite comedy.

I would also recommend Oldboy. It's disturbing, and I can't get it out of my mind. It invaded my sleep too. DIsturbing but very worth watching.

We don't go to the pictures as much as we used to, but I'll look out for this one.

We came to the end of Drop the dead donkey on Wednesday. Thank you very much for sending it! It was great to watch the lot, in order - I felt as if we'd only seen about 20 episodes when it was on TV. Even with the old news, it has aged well!

Anything can be eaten, even non-food items.

The insects are good tasting. Now I understand some of the Bible references. I am eager to taste locusts and honey.

Don't watch much TV. Haven't seen that show.

I totally get where you are coming from! At least it's not having to deal with neighbors with the mean cat (from Ruffian and Redrum's youth) and hopefully you won't ever have to feed Buddy pumpkin. I guess.... Look for the bright side of unconditional love (even if it is for the next 20 years!). Seriously, though, we have drug our feet in looking for a pet BECAUSE of how uncomplicated life is without one. And we have been talking about possible moving to Europe (joys of husband being a citizen of an EU country), and I don't want to put a pet through that.

Just curious... Do you watch "Man vs. Wild?" Because he eats all that, plus more, without the fancy fixin's (or the absinthe!)! :-) Interesting dinner... Don't know if my mind or stomach would have allowed me to join in, but it is interesting to see what can be eaten!
